One of the most powerful anti-spam tools for WordPress is Hashcash. It uses a Javascript proof-of-work system, among other things, to deter spam. It has its share of issues too, such as requiring javascript. I’ve ported the most recent version of Hashcash to lyceum.
NOTE: this plugin must be installed in wp-content/systemplugins, and not in wp-content/plugins.

Since this goes in systemplugins rather than in plugins, it does not show up as an activatable plugin, or have any interface whatsoever. Is this correct? Should I assume that it’s working?
