Hey everyone - we’re going to be moving the Lyceum server to a new datacenter on Monday, August 21. The move will happen at about 8PM EST, and we’ll be off the radar for a few hours. Thanks for using Lyceum!
One of the most powerful anti-spam tools for WordPress is Hashcash. It uses a Javascript proof-of-work system, among other things, to deter spam. It has its share of issues too, such as requiring javascript. I’ve ported the most recent version of Hashcash to lyceum.
NOTE: this plugin must be installed in wp-content/systemplugins, and not in wp-content/plugins.
Whatup informs us that he has created a plugin for Lyceum which allows per-blog language selection. I have yet to try it out extensively, but from what I’ve seen so far it looks great. Thanks whatup! Also covered in his (Chinese-language) blog here.
Wow, I just noticed that whatup has created a Chinese-language forum for Lyceum!
There is also a French-language forum.
whatup has translated the lyceum installation instructions into Chinese. Send this link to all your friends who only speak Chinese!!! :)
Lyceum community all-star Jim Groom has outdone himself once again and put together a great write-up, repleat with screenshots, on setting up a database for Lyceum using CPanel. Thanks Jim!
Also check out Jim’s previous write-up on installing Lyceum.
We’ve added a nifty search box that will let you look through the Lyceum mailing list archives, the lyceum.ibiblio.org website, and the Lyceum Trac. We did this so that Lyceum users and devs could easily search through our growing archives, bug reports, etc. Give it a shot and let us know if anything is missing.
This past Monday I attended the Citizen Journalism Unconference. I wrote about my experiences on my blog.
Dave G wanted to install Lyceum as a subdirectory of his website, AND use subdomain style blog URLs. He came up with a simple and effective solution and blogged all about it. Thanks Dave for sharing your experiences with us!
IMPORTANT: the need for installing Lyceum like this is very rare. It is not something we test or support (or have even tried ourselves) and is not the recommended way to install Lyceum.
