Lyceum has a logo!

Some big news - Lyceum now has a logo!

Lyceum Logo

The logo was kindly designed by Theron Parlin, the absolutely fantastic designer and creator of the best Wordpress themes. Theron is involved with Thought Mechanics, and he recently orchestrated the installation of the beautiful Lyceum site people.thoughtmechanics.com.

The Lyceum logo embodies a lot of the project - simplicity, connection, conversation - and we couldn’t be happier. A few days ago we really didn’t have a logo. JJB pinged Theron to see if he might be interested, and two days later - wow. Theron has released this logo to the Lyceum project under a Creative Commons license.

In the upcoming days, we’ll be integrating the logo into the Lyceum software, branding our sites with it, and thinking about printing up some T-shirts. Thank you to Theron - this logo is a real compliment to the Lyceum project.

New release candidate

We’ve had a long bug fixing period for Lyceum 0.32. We branched a few weeks back and have squashed lots of bugs since then. I just rolled up Lyceum 0.32 Release Candidate 3. This will probably be the final release candidate. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Beautiful Lyceum Installation

The excellent folks over at Thought Mechanics (the very people who’ve themed this page) announced the creation of people.thoughtmechanics.com today.  People.thoughtmechanics.com is a Lyceum installation - a way for everyone to create their own Thought Mechanics blogs.

We wanted to point to this particular site to showcase its design; the Thought Mechanics folks have created an absolute beauty of an installation.  We’re very impressed!

Lyceum Article in Reference Services Review

The Lyceum press extravaganza continues! In this installment, Lyceum appears in an article in Reference Services Review. One of our goals with Lyceum is seeing it rolled out at colleges and universities; in this article, we discuss potential applications of Lyceum in a reference context.

If you’re thinking about installing Lyceum at your college or university, feel free to drop us a line - we’d love to help you get started. We hope this article will illustrate one of the many potential applications of Lyceum.

Nice write up on Lyceum

Jim Groom has done a really nice write up about installing and using Lyceum. Jim has been giving us feedback and reporting bugs for a long time now. Jim currently uses Lyceum for his English class.

You can also see a list of other people using Lyceum (and add your own site) on the wiki here.

Lyceum 0.32 is on its way

Some of you may have noticed that Lyceum 0.32 development has slowed down considerably. I’ve been traveling for the past week and will still be orbiting until the 17th. Thankfully Jameson has been keeping up with bugfixes and holding down the fort supporting folks on the mailing list and irc channel.

Fear not, soon I will return and get 0.32 rolling out the door. And let me tell you, this is going to be a nice release. Lots of new features and bugfixes, and also the best release yet in terms of plugin and theme compatibility. Stay tuned!
